In addition to in-kind donations, we rely heavily on the help of our volunteers. They're a critical part of the day-to-day functioning of our organization, performing a variety of tasks such as direct work with women and children, hotline operator, administrative work, shelter clean-ups, children's party hostess, maintenance projects and much more. Our Time Out Thrift Store at 244 E. Highway 260 has immediate openings. You can view a list of volunteer positions below.
All new volunteers are required to attend some level of training. All non-direct service volunteers will be required to attend at least 3 hours of training and orientation. All direct service volunteers will attend a longer and more comprehensive training.
Note: The positions below which are marked with an asterisk (*) are areas in which we currently need the most support.
Organize and coordinate letter-writing campaigns, assist with developing community events designed to raise awareness, monitor local media for information and trends related to domestic violence.
A wide variety of development, public relations and marketing opportunities are available depending on experience and interest. Assist with special events, developing website content, newsletter, researching information or clerical/administrative support.
Work as part of the team planning and organizing one of Time Out’s annual fundraising events. Assist with obtaining auction/raffle items, event sponsors and advertisers, oversee event details/creative elements and help to publicize the event. Opportunities are available throughout the year.
Groups are needed to donate meals to the emergency shelter residents. Meals should be prepared for approximately 28 women and children. This opportunity is available Monday - Friday for the dinner meal.
Assist with numerous tasks requiring both English and Spanish-speaking skills. Duties include assisting with support groups in the community and various other projects.
Assist Moms, Women's Advocates and Youth Advocates with children in shelter or at community support group sites. Duties include watching children during groups for Moms, reading to and playing with children, or creating group activities.
Assist staff in providing basic domestic violence information at health fairs and other community-based functions.
Assist with support groups for victims of domestic violence with help of program supervisor. This is an excellent opportunity to share an area of expertise in life skills. Need Spanish and English-speaking.
Answer hotline for callers in crisis and provide referral information, emotional support, and conduct intake assessment for women and children who are candidates for shelter.
A variety of positions are available: greet customers, receive donations, lift items in donation yard, sort/price merchandise, arrange items in store, and maintain cleanliness. Time Out now has a "Teen Volunteer Program" which invites responsible teens between the ages of 16-18 to gain valuable experience at the thrift store.
